We had an amazing time today. The boys had their first
Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding session with Charley, the horse. We were with the
Horse N' Around riding center at
RoseHill Stables in Monroe, NC. Liz and Casey were our therapists. They were so sweet and kind to the boys. Charley was really gentle and both Ian and Parker followed directions and were just so happy to be on the horse.
Hippotherapy helps with trunk control, speech difficulties, sensory and behavioral issues, and core strength by using the movement of the horse as a therapy "tool". When Parker got off the horse, he actually had his legs and feet apart and facing out for a few minutes (instead of
pronating in). Parker didn't even scream the whole time he was on the horse and really tried to talk while on Charlie. Ian seemed very happy when he was on Charlie and enjoyed all the activities the therapists asked him to do.
Hippotherapy is a great thing!
