Hello everyone! I know it has been a little while since I posted but life has been very busy. Busy with work and taking care of babies, broken fridges, and worrying about family in Ohio with the hurricane? A hurricane in Ohio-kinda like beachfront property in Iowa! Parker has been real sick with burst eardrums and double ear infections. He is still having trouble eating and we are going for some more tests Monday to see why he can't swallow chunky food. He will also be getting a speech and feeding assessment and will hopefully get feeding and speech therapy as he gets PT in our home. I just hope that we can get some answers to Parker's difficulties with motor skills and feeding. Despite all this he is a very happy baby who smiles all the time and loves to snuggle. Looks like Parker keeps you on your toes! Ian's coloring is amazing. I don't think Wesley could color like that until he was 4 or 5 (Wesley doesn't even like to color)!

allie - i've enjoyed reading your blog and just wanted to tell u we know what you're talking about with all those horrible double ear infections and burst eardrums! Before Elijah was 2.5, he had gone through 3 sets of ear tubes and had his adnoids removed. He was always sick; pnuemonia every winter, breathing treatments, it was leading to asthma that was getting worse, constantly had a runny nose etc. the last time his ear drum burst i couldn't take it anymore. that's when we found out about the connection of dairy to causing horrible congestion problems in some allergic children. we were desperate and gave it a try. it was VERY difficult to take him off all dairy bc/ milk, yogurt and cheese were his main diet. we had to switch to soy and rice milk and he got a lot more fruit snacks when he begged for something with dairy...but within 2-3 WEEKS we had a completely different child! and he has NEVER had an ear infection, asthma, pnuemonia, NOTHING, again. it was crazy. when i told my pediatrician she was skeptical but could not refuse the results we were all seeing in his health. after a year or so she did admit that over 60% of children have an allergy to dairy! wish i would've known that the 3 years Elijah was completely miserable, sick, went through 3 operations and was on antibiotics and allergy med more times than he was not! we went to an allergist and he completely dismissed us. he said it wasn't possible for dairy to have caused all those problems and he would see us again in 6 months. we've never gone back and we've never had to - Elijah (8) became the healthiest of all my kids! after a couple years we were able to add dairy back in but whenever he would start getting a cold or a runny nose (bc/ he had a virus or something) we would immed. stop all the dairy and it never led to an ear infection again, EVER. it is very difficult to stop dairy and maybe you're not ready to try that with Parker bc/ maybe he's just going through a phase but if it continues, i'll tell ya it's definitely worth a try! Just thought i'd tell you our story and also that we know what it's like. so sorry for the poor guy!
